Video Works for @publicspaceslab: A conceptual explanation
In the last few days I have been making some video work to build up the release of "PS020 Various Artists - The Future of Lab" for PublicSpaces Lab.
The videos are supposed to work like a teaser to the high quality audio material that is going to be released and it was with that in mind that I started to produce them.
The Concept: Preview | Digital | Nature
The main word for me was "Preview": preview as in giving an idea but not showing everything; preview as in leaving something hidden while showing everything. Digital (as in digital release) and nature (applied to public spaces) were other two words that I wanted to use as for concept for these series of videos.
Producing the Videos
Two main decisions were made to produce the videos:
1. The use of one take shots of 1m in duration each.
2. To use Cycling 74's software "Jitter" applied to the final videos using the same "evolutionary" patch I have been using on my QuarterBit project for my audio projects.
As per concept I wanted to make one take shots in public spaces and then apply the music track to the video information and let computer come up with several results. The choice of filming natural elements provided the raw footage with random elements that helped build the final textures.
Post Production
Post-production consisted of adding the lettering.
Please take your time to see the videos at PublicSpaces Lab YouTube channel.
One new video will be uploaded every day (in a total of 20 videos) before the audio release comes out so don't forget to subscribe to the channel.
Feedback, as usual, is more than welcome.
